The Luna Fire within the North Cascades National Park Service Complex started in a rock scree southwest of Luna Camp along Big Beaver Trail in steep, rough, and remote terrain. It was discovered on Thursday, July 2, following lightning storms on previous days. The Maine Incident Management Team was assigned to manage this fire beginning on Tuesday, August 4 after significant fire growth occurred. Command of the fire transitioned to Southern Area GRAY Team-1 on Monday, August 17; and to a local Type-3 organization on Saturday, August 22.The Luna Fire is located approximately 12 miles southwest…
