The Grass Burr Fire started on August 13, 2026, in Cottle County and was initially responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment at 11:25 am and quickly responded. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local fire departments. Aviation resources including Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) were ordered and continue to assist in suppression efforts.
