August 18, 2026The Casey Lake Fire started on August 18, 2026, in Shackelford County and was responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment at 5:28 pm and quickly responded. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local fire departments. Firefighters and Heavy Equipment are engaged in containment line construction. Aviation resources including Large Air Tankers (LATs) and Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) are being ordered to assist in suppression efforts.
