July 23, 2026The Luna Fire within the North Cascades National Park Service Complex started in a rock scree southwest of Luna Camp along Big Beaver Trail in steep, rough, and remote terrain. It was discovered on Thursday, July 2, following lightning storms on previous days. Command of the fire transitioned to a local Type-3 organization on Saturday, August 22.The Luna Fire is located approximately 12 miles southwest of the Border 2 Fire, also burning within North Cascades National Park.Area, trail, and camp closures are in place to protect the public.
