The Bufford Creek Fire started on August 10, 2026, in Stephens County and was responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment at 1:49 pm and quickly responded. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local fire departments. Heavy equipment is engaged constructing containment lines with moderate fire activity observed in mixed oak and juniper timber.
