The Double Springs Fire is a lightning-caused wildfire burning approximately 21 miles southeast of Challis, Idaho, in the Christian Gulch area of the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The fire was detected on July 24, 2026, and is burning in steep, rugged terrain with heavy timber, dead and down fuels, and limited road access.Since the fire was discovered, firefighters have implemented a full suppression strategy focused on protecting firefighter and public safety while minimizing fire growth.
