August 27, 2026A series of thunderstorms over several weeks brought a significant amount of lightning activity to the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. During one of these events, the Electric Fire was reported on Aug. 22 at 7:30 p.m. The fire is located seven miles north of Marblemount, Washington, burning within the Bacon Creek drainage on the Mount Baker Ranger District. It was originally estimated at 15 acres; the fire was burning in heavy fuels, including dead and down timber, in steep, rugged terrain that significantly limited safe access for firefighters.
