The Saxon Fire started on August 9, 2026, in Burnet County and was responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment at 3:06 pm and quickly responded. Texas A&M Forest Service is in unified command with local fire departments. Heavy equipment proceeded to build containment line after forward progression was stopped prior to arrival.
