The Live Oak Fire in Menard County started on September 2, 2026, under elevated fire conditions. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters, aircraft, heavy equipment at 4:15 pm. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local departments.Final Update - 9/3, 2026, 1 pm - The fire is 100% contained. The vast majority of hotspots and smoke are well interior of the perimeter. Engine crews continue mop up operations and are mitigating any heat within 100 feet of the fireline.
