August 27, 2026The Chimney Creek Fire in Shackelford County started on August 27, 2026, under elevated fire conditions. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment at 7:40 pm. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local departments.August 28 - 6:30 pm - The fire is 100% contained.August 28 - 3:45 am - Containment is now 90% and all lines are tied in. Firefighters have been released from the fire and will return at 12:00 p.m. today to assess needs of the fire.
