August 31, 2026The Shotgun Fire started on August 30, 2026 near County Road 410 in Callahan County and spread to Burkett County. Eight local fire departments responded to the fire. The Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment. Texas A&M Forest Service worked in unified command with the local fire departments.Bulldozers constructed firelines in rough terrain and engine crews completed a burnout operation to secure the head of the fire during the early morning hours on Monday, August 31.
