The fire is 100% Contained as of August 27.The Cherry Peak Fire was detected on the afternoon of August 18, 2026. The fire was burning in steep, rugged terrain with timber and grass. The fire is lightning caused.Closures: For firefighter and public safety, Forest Service Road 420 is closed starting August 21 due to firefighting operations on the Cherry Peak Fire. The closure begins at the junction of Forest Service Road 420 and Forest Service Road 7600. Forest Service Road 420 is closed south of this junction. There is scheduled to reopen the evening of Saturday, August 29.
